Mildred and Richard Loving fell in love in Central Point in Caroline County, Virginia. Despite Caroline County sticking with strict segregation laws, Richard and Mildred grew up in a mixed neighborhood in the 40s and 50s. Mildred had African-American and Native American-ancestry, while Richard had European blood through his mother.
While dating in high school, Mildred became pregnant. In 1958, Richard and Mildred married in Washington, D.C. Later, the Caroline County Sheriff arrested them for breaking the Racial Integrity Act of 1924. In other words, interracial marriage was illegal in the state and most places in America. They lived in Washington until 1967 when they filed the historic Virginia vs. Loving case. They helped overturn the law and returned to Central Point with their kids, where Richard built Mildred’s dream home.
2. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are among the most famous couples around the globe. The son of King Charles III and Diana, Harry’s caucasian with a well-known family lineage. Megan Markle’s parents were also an interracial couple.

At the time, a black man and a white woman entering a relationship were unheard of in the late 40s. Seretse was the first black man Ruth had ever met. They married in 1948, setting off controversy in South Africa, which had just initiated racial segregation known as apartheid.
The couple was forced to flee and lived in England for several years in exile before returning in 1956 to live as ordinary citizens. Seretse returned to politics and became the first President of the newly independent Botswana in 1966.
