They lead straightforward lives, harbor no grand plans to predate larger creatures, and hold no ambitions of building large structures or traveling great distances. At the end of the day they just want to eat and hang out together. The whole ‘strength in numbers’ thing also helps improve survival rates when any of their hundreds to thousands of predators show up in the neighborhood.
In addition to their chill, laid back outlook on life, shrimp are downright delicious. Humans have been eating shrimp for thousands of years. Raised platforms created by the Chipas people in Mexico were used for drying shrimp. Clay pots depicting shrimp were found in the ruins of Pompeii. In the third century ano domini, the Greek writer Athenaeuswrote that “of all the fish in the sea, the finest is a young shrimp in fig leaves.”
